Say So!
On April 20th, I will be performing and/or speaking on the topic of sexual assault for SAY SO! (Sexual Assault Yearly Speak Out)
According to their blog SAY SO! Brooklyn,
it is a public event that raises awareness about specialized rape crisis services in New York City and celebrates healing and recovery from sexual violence.
To see pictures and learn about previous Say So events, visit the New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault website.

I still haven’t figured out, if I speak on what I will focus on.
I’m think about speaking on “Release and Live,” or “Restoration” or even “Reclaiming”.
The other option is do prepare a theatrical monologue from various prespectives in relation to sexual assault. (In college I did five monologues from various prespectives on racism and I really enjoyed that and perhaps could do a series of monologues from various voices regarding one incident. I could see the victim speaking, the mom, the lawyer, the perpetrator and someone else…..) Still trying to figure it all out.
I’ve googled some things to find inspiration or direction and came across two things.
WKU had a theatre performance that seemed interesting.
The University of North Dakota hosted a play called “LookOut” by playwright Kathy Coudle-King.
I’m also inspired by Extremities, the play. Have you ever heard of it. Follow the link and learn a bit.
