Woman – The Original Miss Eve
Originall written in 2004
Inspired by a Slyvia Plath poem and the suppression of women in evangelical fundamentalist conservative christian beliefs. It’s a poem but it was a journal entry. I use to believe this of myself. How horrible! My perception of self changed. That can be found here! I looked this poem up in my archives after having a facebook dialogue about the possibility of “Asking for Rape” clothing labels that would truly help us all. (Note the sarcasm and read the article.)
I am scarred.
My sex is wrong.
I taint all that I touch.
I am a myth.
A concept.
A prophecy fulfilled.
I seduce because I have power over will.
I am tortured.
Committed.
Absurd.
To my fault and yours,
I am a woman.
Sexual.
