Happy Birthday Jantira K.
Yesterday my good friend Jantira celebrated her birthday.
Iāve been thinking about what I wanted to write for weeks now when it comes to her. Jantira is special to me. She recently moved to here from California and is making a home in New York. I remember our countless conversations for many years about both of us wanting to live in the same state so that we could conquer the world together. We either wanted to live in New York City or on some farm with granola types making art that mattered. After all these years, it has happened. We’re here in New York.Ā I find that incredibly wonderful. Now we need the farm or that empty building to house our production company.
This is important because Jantira inspires every possibility of creativity. For some reason unbeknownst to me, I can sit with Jan and say the word āPinkā and the next thing I know Iāve outlined the most amazing business plan for world domination in photography and have come up with a clear concept for a novel. Itās crazy how it works. Recently Jan and I worked together to film a pole dancing short and after discussing the editing process & challenges, we had a list of 10+ ideas for the next series of videos to shoot. Plus, most of the ideas we generate are great ideas. Itās not like we brainstorm for hours and most notes end up on the floor and maybe one great thing came out of it. NO. We just have this way about us. Somehow my best creative moments always involve Jantira.
This is incredibly special and important to me. I value creativity and expression and knowledge and adventure and in just about all my interactions with her, my values are reinforced, challenged, and pushed beyond measure to bring forth something amazing. Ā I canāt say this for everyone, even amongst my other creative friends who I value and love. Jantira has her own special mark where she ignites my imagination and literally, everything seems possible.
I hope you know this Jantira. As we continue to grow and learn about each other and make new discoveries, as life continues to unfold, I hope you know you possess an incredible ability that is unique to you. I am thankful for the chemistry of our friendship, for our challenges and triumphs and for every memory and adventure. Iām glad my memories are filled with long nights at Berlin, you dying my hair red, you teaching me photography, planning C.R.E.A.T.E., photographing sand and waves in San Diego, lots of pole dance and endless Vietnamese and Thai meals. Iām grateful for everything Jantira. I really am. But my favorite thing about you is your ability to inspire someone and to bring out the best in their own personal expression. That is an incredible talent! Please put that as a line item on your resume.
Happy Birthday dear! Hereās to more projects, more adventures andā¦more doodles.
