I have been using a Nokia Lumia Icon for a few months now and its time for a check in.
1. Yes. Hands down the Nokia Lumia Icon is a great tool for photography.
2. No. The Windows App Store cannot compare to how I use my iPhone or Droid phones thus limiting some of my productivity, social activity and lifestyle preferences.
3. Yes, the phone itself has awesome uses. I can unify my mailboxes! I can translate text using my camera. I can copy any text from anywhere
Be that as it may, I wondered if I could use my phone to film daily and on-the-go vlogs when I don’t feel like pulling out my “fancy” DSLR. I decide to film a video showing my go to make up and hair style for one of my “typical days.”
On this particular day I was getting ready to film a client for a behind the scenes lingerie and handbag shoot. (Check out Bodybinds and MaryLai and the Stassi Clutch.) Considering the fashiom film project was more fashion oriented, I wanted my hair out and big and my face made up a bit more heavy than usual.
Since all my professional gear was packed up for the shoot and I wanted to test out my Nokia Lumia ICON, I wanted to see if I could film a vlog in a way that was usable for my youtube channel. I know my DSLR is a great tool but I wanted to put my #VZWBuzz Icon to the test. Also, instead of using iMovie, Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro…I own them all…. since I would be filming on my phone, I decided to rely on an app or website to edit my video. I could not find a suitable app in the Windows store so I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor.
The video is filmed in two parts and is 15 minutes as it shows real time. (I couldn’t find an Windows video editing app that allowed me to speed up the footage.) However, for a mobile smartphone….. does this work for real life vlogging?
