Smoked Apple Sage Sausage Stir Fry

Sunday, September 19th, 2010

It’s getting old to assume that vegetarians, vegans and raw foodist eat celery for lunch and carrot smoothies as their drink of choice. The possibilities for complete tasty meals are ENDLESS. Ridiculously endless. I do not eat crappy food. Therefore my vegetarian choices and sometimes vegan and raw choices do not lack anything. Especially considering I mostly eat ALL spicy foods!

Now that I’ve gotten that out my system, I can climb down off my soapbox and introduce you to my FAVORITE new vegetarian delight. Say hello to Field Roast VEGAN Grain “Meat” Sausage. This is one of many products that the company sells but this one is my favorite. More specifically the Smoked Apple Sage. (Bet you thought I was going to say the Mexican Chipotle. :) )

I was first introduced to this tasty sausage during a cooking demo at my local CSA. (Community Supported Agriculture) I thought the sausage was real meat. (Funny I say real when most of the “meat” that you eat is so full of crap that it might as well be fake!) Any whoo, I felt bad about telling the chef that I didn’t want her sausage, so I ate it anyway. I found it to be so tasty and I felt a little guilty for having consumed meat. Imagine my surprise when the chef explained to everyone that the sausage was vegetarian! Vegan, actually! Wooohoooo! I made a note to myself to purchase it myself and try it out!

The other night, I finally after weeks and weeks of searching…I finally made a stir fry that was so freaking tasty that I liked the plate! I don’t really have a recipe right now. I used onions and bell peppers that came from my latest CSA pick up. I used sea salt, pepper, a little chili powder and some other something. Not too sure. God good…please try this and be amazed!

Some wonderfule recipes and a quick review of how awesome they are can be found in the blog post: Sausage in a Snuggle

Homemade Deodorant – Female Scented

Friday, September 17th, 2010

After researching various homemade deodorant recipes, I came across a few simple ones. The original recipe I’m basing this one of can be found here. My mom wanted to try this recipe as well. Depending on how much you emit an order and/or sweat adjust the amounts of  corn starch and baking soda. This recipe is natural and organic minus the flour we substituted in. If you use corn starch….you are all good.

INGREDIENTS USED:

Shea Butter – (still trying to locate the vendor I bought it from. I bought it online but they are a local New York vendor)

Organic Corn Starch – Purchased at my local Wholefoods Grocery Store

Organic Baking Soda – Purchased at my local Wholefoods Grocery Store

Vitamin E – Purchased on Drugstore.com

Vegetable Glycerin – Purchased at my local Wholefoods Grocery Store and/or Amazon.com

Essential Oils – Purchased at my local Wholefoods Grocery Store and/or Drugstore.com

Container – Purchased from the same vendor I got my shea butter from. See above.

Homemade Deodorant Recipe ~ Male Scented

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

After researching various homemade deodorant recipes, I came across a few simple ones. The original recipe I’m basing this one of can be found here. While I’ve been using the deodorant for awhile and it appears to work, a reader asked if it worked for athletic people. I’m having my brother test it out since he plays football, basketball and works out ALL THE TIME. I’m awaiting his report back. This recipe is natural and organic minus the flour we substituted in. If you use corn starch….you are all good.
